Talk about having fun under the sun
Second plane ride? terrific! I really love the view up there, I can play with the clouds in my imagination and I feel that I'm closer to heaven. Addition to that, I saw green mountains and trees which looked like a bunch of broccoli as I viewed them. It was the 12th of November 2010 and the sun was about to shine when we landed the shores of San Jose, Mindoro. First time to visit such place. Everything was not planned so well and we only trusted blogs, reviews and the internet to have at least a glimpse of what could the city be.
And then... this
We never knew that at the heart of this province, there is such an island existing with such a breath taking view.
Fast forward a bit because I was so excited to brag about the White Island. But here's what we did as we arrived... The Sikatuna (our hotel) had us picked up by their free shuttle at the airport. At the hotel, we had our breakfast by the sea then slept for a while. As we woke up, we went to the town's market to see what's the town's specialty. Bad thing we didn't enjoyed the market because of a lot of people staring at us. :)Then we went to the ever popular monuments to take a picture and here's a sample.
Next stop? Villa Paulina. A long tricycle ride took us to a very lovely resort and spa in a barangay in San Jose. We had our sumptuous lunch there (again by the sea) and had a native foot massage then went back to the hotel. When the shade of the sun went off, we wen to a very interesting lounge. A super quiet and cozy lounge owned by a retired female pilot and with that, it was named the Pilot's lounge. It was well decorated, of course with airplanes :)
Day II
We arranged a trip to the island posted above. Thanks to the very accommodating staff of Sikatuna hotel we pulled it off. For only 1,500 (normally 3,800) we had a boat which brought us to the wonderful island with sand so white. If only that island could be commercialized and improved, that will be a big hit to tourists. The water was crystal blue and it's only less than 15 minutes form our hotel to get there. Here's another picture that shows how happy we we're.
We we're the only visitors in the island. It was such a great experience. :D
Lunch time came and we decided to contact the boatman for us to leave the island early due to hunger. We went back to our hotel to eat, change and rest for a while and get ready to sing beside the beach and to tour the city to buy pasalubong. Before we wen to the city, we first sang few songs in a native "kubo" beside the beach. Cottage rental: free! The only thing that has payment are each song we sang.. 5php per song. Then we headed to the city. We found out that the province had no special delicacies. Good thing I was too eager to go to stores with "SALE" posters on their windows so when I saw one, we quickly entered the small department store. There we saw a souvenir shop. We bought goodies and went back to the hotel. touring the city is easy due to its small size and efficient public transportation. You only have to ride a tricycle to be able to go to places.
Traveling with friends is really surely exciting and fun! Next stop? CEBU! :)
